COURTESY RULES HIGHLIGHTS
Complete play rules will be available at the event location the day of the event. The Tournament will be overseen by an impartial "Tournament Director."
MAIN TOURNAMENT AND CONSOLATION TURBO TABLE
Players may be removed from tournament play at the discretion of the Tournament Director for repeatedly violating Play and Courtesy rules.
- Play will begin when the Tournament Director announces the tournament has started.
- Each table's deck of cards will be spread out, face-down on the table and each player will draw from the pile of cards. The player drawing the highest ranking card (excluding suits) will be the first dealer at that table. In the case of equal highest rank, the players with the equal highest ranking cards will draw again from the deck to determine the first dealer. Blinds will be posted accordingly from the first dealer.
- Each player will deal in turn, moving clockwise (left) from the first dealer.
- The deal will begin after the small and big blinds have been posted by the appropriate players. The small blind is to the immediate left of the dealer; the big blind to the immediate left of the small blind.
- If during the deal, any player's card is exposed due to the dealer or the card catching on the table, the player has the option to accept or reject the exposed card.
If the player accepts the exposed card it is kept as the player's pocket card and the deal will resume in order.
If the player rejects the exposed card, the exposed card remains face-up on the table and becomes the first burn card. The dealer continues dealing, skipping the player of the exposed card, then deals the last card to the player of the exposed card.
After the pre-flop round of betting has been completed, the dealer DOES NOT BURN A CARD but deals the three (3) flop cards. Play continues per normal play procedure after the flop.
- THE DEALER WILL AT NO TIME PRE-DEAL face-up or face-down A BURN CARD (except in the case of 5. above), THE FLOP CARDS, THE TURN CARD, OR THE RIVER CARD. The dealer will deal the appropriate cards as the progress of the hand dictates.
- Players participating in the action at the table will ACT IN TURN, verbalize action intent (check, call, raise, or fold), then place their folded cards or any chips to be bet in front of them--players will NOT "splash the pot" with chips. Once a player's chips have been presented (set in front of them) no more chips may be added to the bet in that turn (no "string betting"). When the betting round has completed, players will push their chips into the pot and the dealer will deal the appropriate burn and community card(s).
- Players will refrain from directing or prompting other players at the table (verbal or otherwise) or engaging in excessive chatter which may interfere with the flow of the game or the concentration of the players. Players involved in the action at the table should make every effort to act in turn with attention to time.
- All chips and cards must remain in view of the players at the table. A player's highest value chip must always be visible to any player at the table.
- If a player is unable to complete the tournament, that player's chips will be turned over to the Tournament Director and taken out of play. The retiring player may not relinquish chips to any player at any table.
- THE BIG BLIND IS LIVE AND PLAYED FOR EVERY HAND. THE BIG BLIND IS NOT SKIPPED FOR ANY PLAYER. NEITHER THE SMALL BLIND NOR THE BIG BLIND IS PLAYED TWICE IN A ROW FOR ANY PLAYER.
- If the player who posted the small blind is eliminated from play at the end of the hand, the current dealer will deal the next hand, allowing the small and big blinds to move forward per normal play.
- If the player who posted the big blind is eliminated at the end of the hand, the deal passes forward, the small blind is declared "dead," and the big blind is posted by the next player in the rotation.
The following hand, the current dealer deals AGAIN so the big blind can move forward one position, and the small blind can be posted per normal play. It takes two (2) hands to fix a big blind elimination.
- When a player is absent from the table, the player's pocket cards are dealt to the empty seat and the appropriate blind, if applicable, is still required to be posted.
If the player has not returned to the game by the time the betting rotation has reached the absent player, the absent player's cards are folded (without being exposed) and any posted blind is moved to the pot--the absent player forfeits play for that hand.
- Table consolidation during the tournament, prior to the final table being seated:
- Tables will be balanced/consolidated if there are less than five (5) players or as needed by the Tournament Director to facilitate tournament play.
- When tables are consolidated, if three (3) or more players are moved to any one (1) table, the players will re-draw for deal.
