Day Trip #2

Entering Coffey County on north-bound Highway 75. At Coffey County’s southern border, travel north then
turn west on HS Highway 58 and proceed eight miles west to Gridley. In Gridley, enjoy the mural depicting
the history of this rural community. Visit the beautiful public library and enjoy downtown shopping. Travel one
mile north of town on Emmer Lane to enjoy the shelter house and picnic facilities at Gridley City Lake. (State
and City licenses required)


Return to Highway 75 and proceed north to Burlington. Start your downtown tour at the Coffey County
Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center. Take the opportunity to view the many murals in Burlington as you
shop the downtown businesses and restaurants.
Return to Highway 75 and proceed north to 15th Road. Turn east and enjoy the wild flowers and the
spectacular view of the state’s only nuclear generating station and cooling lake that offers some of the finest
fishing in Kansas. (State Fishing License Required)

 

Day Trip #3

Enter Coffey County from I-35 from Lyon County and stop at Lebo (exit 148), head west of town on 27th Roadto Lebo Lake and Kids Ponds. Enjoy the excellent fishing in the tranquil setting. (State and City Licenses arerequired)


After taking part in some fishing and a picnic, return to I-35 and continue on east to BETO Junction Travel
Plaza at the intersection of Highways 75 and I-35. Turn south on Highway 75 to 17th Road. Turn east on
17th Road and travel about a mile to the Wolf Creek Environmental Education Area. Enjoy the nature trails,
bird viewing area, and the old grain silo in the Wolf Creek Environmental Education Area, open from sunrise to
sunset, 365 days a year.
